Property 10199 - SORRENTO
6 Bedrooms
Location and Surrounding Area
Located near the heart of Sorrento, this modern six-bedroom villa is the perfect place for a stylish break on one of the most famous stretches of coastline in the Mediterranean. Characterised by its bright lemon groves, dramatic plunging cliffs, and crystal-clear waters, the Sorrentine Peninsula juts into the sea like a pointing finger, its rugged shores sprinkled with some of Southern Italy’s most spectacular beaches, and its bucolic interior moulded by the limestone Monti Lattari.
Perched on a plateau above the Mediterranean Sea, Sorrento offers a charming escape with unmatched views over the Bay of Naples, the island of Capri, and towards Mount Vesuvius. Sorrento has something for everyone, from rural walks through lemon groves to Roman ruins, bustling harbours, and boat tours. Tourist boutiques, seafood restaurants, and limoncello tastings make this town perfect for strolling around, while enchanting coves and pebble beaches are ideal for visitors looking for a seaside escape.
Set in the hills just below the ridge that divides Sorrento from the sheer southern coastline lies the village of Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, named for its dominance over the gulfs of both Naples and Salerno. To the west and south-west of Sorrento is a hilly hinterland, the sprawling Massa Lubrense, and a wild stretch of coast that developers have left untouched. Massa Lubrense is home to hamlets and ancient lookout towers, a reminder of repeated invasions over the centuries, surrounded by citrus and olive groves.
If Sorrento becomes overwhelming, the laid-back town of Vico Equense, which stands on a sheer tufa cliff just along the coast, makes an attractive base. Beachgoers tend to head for the small pockets of sand tucked into coves at Marina di Vico and Marina d'Aequa, while walkers tackle the old footpath to Positano, clinging to the cliffs of the Amalfi coastline. Culture enthusiasts hop on the Circumvesuviana train to explore the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, both destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius.
Positano boasts authentic pastel-toned townhouses scattered across a spectacular stretch of coastline, blue seascapes, and narrow alleyways adorned with wisteria and lemon trees. From crystalline waters and dramatic rocky cliffs to twisting lanes and spectacular architecture, Positano is a quaint cliffside village brimming with unique and timeless charm. Seaside holiday enthusiasts must visit the parasol-dotted Spiaggia Grande, a beautiful beach at the foot of the village’s tumbling terraces.
