Location and Surrounding Area. Property 10680 is just 2 km from the historic walled city of Lecce, one of Southern Italy’s most beautiful cities. Lecce is characterised by two things: its incredibly ornate Baroque buildings (for which it is commonly nicknamed ‘the Florence of the South’) and its warm, yellowish ‘tufo’ limestone. They combine to give the city a truly unique atmosphere that makes it a seductive alternative to Italy’s more well-travelled tourist destinations. During the day it is a stunning open-air museum, steeped in tradition, history and culture, with churches, art galleries, impressive piazzas and narrow side streets. By night its tasteful street lighting really brings the city to life. Particularly worth visiting are the Basilica di Santa Croce, which has one of the finest and most intricate Baroque facades in all of Italy, and the Cathedral of Maria Santissima Assunta, with its impressive bell tower.
Lecce is positioned between the Ionian and the Adriatic seas and both coasts are within easy reach. For those who love beach life and all its pleasures -like swimming, snorkelling, diving and boat trips- the clear blue waters of both seas are ideal. The sun rises above the Adriatic and sets upon the Ionian.
While the Salento region, south of Lecce, is famous among Italians from all over the country for its stunning beaches, the wider Apulia area is full of delightfully characteristic small towns, like Otranto, Gallipoli, Santa Maria di Leuca, Ostuni, Alberobello and Martina Franca.
Towns: Otranto 40 km, Gallipoli 40 km, Santa Maria di Leuca 65 km, Ostuni 84 km, Alberobello 120 km, Martina Franca 125 km.
Beaches: San Cataldo 15 km, Porto Cesareo 20 km, San Foca 25 km, Torre dell'Orso 30 km, Alimini 35 km.
Airports: Brindisi 45 km, Bari 175 km.
