Courchevel Description
Part of the massive Trois Vallées area, Courchevel is reputed to be the one of most sophisticated and expensive resorts in France offering some of the best skiing conditions and a long season. Courchevel is best for families and those wanting luxury hotels.
This is a simply vast area with plenty of opportunities for deep terrain skiing, tree line skiing and many flattering, cruising slopes. Courchevel is the perfect resort for many skiers. Of all the ski resorts, Courchevel 1850 is closest to the heart of the Parisians and the Capital’s café society just love its chic boutiques and its hedonistic portfolio of hotels and gourmet restaurants. It caters for an international clientele, many of whom will stay nowhere else. The resort is spread over four levels from le Praz at 1300, through 1550 and 1650 up to the largest and most exclusive resort of 1850.
Courchevel has direct links to Meribel and the other resorts of the Trois Vallées and the ski area has a long ski season due to the high altitude. Courchevel has a choice of independent ski schools offering small classes and specialist instruction for all levels and ages.
Set in the magnificent Trois Vallées, there is so much terrain to ski that many people return year after year and still manage to discover new runs. This resort has something for everyone one from budding novices to expert skiers. Courchevel is, for good reason, a very popular resort, however this does mean that the slopes can be a little crowded and it is expensive, particularly at peak periods.
Time off the slopes can be spent on the ice driving circuit, snowshoeing in the trees, or tobogganing down to Courchevel 1550. The Forum complex has an Olympic ice rink, shopping centre, brasserie and children’s village. At night there are ski shows, concerts and a wide selection of bars, clubs and restaurants. The frequent resort shuttle buses operate until midnight.
